Snow Storm and the Damage Done

In the midst of the largest snow storm we've ever seen in our lives, we were spontaneously invited
to take part in a concert alongside the Iceland Reggae/Dub band, Ojba Rasta, who were on tour
and inconveniently had to cancel the rest of their shows as they were stuck
in their first destination, Siglufjordor  However, not a bad place to be stuck.
A wonderful night ensued as Ojba Rasta began with a bass heavy and deep grooved set.
Directly following, Hannah and I set up and soon into our set, we were
happily accompanied by the talents of the Icelanders of Ojba Rasta.  As you can see in
the video, the dynamic of our sound was totally changed just by improvisation.
It really made us pine for expanding our two piece to a full band (wink, wink).
At the end of the night, we were invited to stay and party with these kind folks.
While we partied till the morning with our new friends, our friends of Listhus
got stuck in the snow on their way back to Olafsfjordor and actually had the
extreme experience of having emergency rescue haul them out in a monster truck
sized vehicle.  Despite the hardship, I think they probably had as exciting of a time
as us.  And we certainly did not have any leisure of not having to face the raw power
of the storm.  We too found ourselves barricaded by massive walls of snow that had
accumulated overnight and blocked entry from the tunnel into Olafsfjordor.  To our
great fortune, somewhat like our friends, we were bailed out by the courtesy of a lone
snow dozer who happened to just see us making an effort through the thick snow.
We left our friends to come back home and find the snow still piling up until some
time late into the morning.  Today, there has been the reprieve of the sunshine and
all the snow plows have been busy at work.  In the video below, you can see
just the snow dozer that helped us out the day before.
For one of the coldest places in the world,
here you can find the warmest hospitality.

Special thanks to the members of Ojba Rasta,
